PEACE of MIND, EXCELLENCE, TRUST and VALUE. If you're looking for words about Foreign Car Specialists, those are just the beginning. I brought my domestic SUV in for a check-engine light and a little ‘eau de burning oil’ coming from the hood. Kevin and his team made me feel like a valued client right away, and performed a multi-point check-up on all of the basics, safety features, and things I hadnt even thought of. As a non-mechanic it is so stressful to try and find a service team that can be trusted to not take advantage of your inexperience. I have one service place that regularly changes my oil. They are very nice, however they never mentioned the gasket/seal issues that were causing the oil leaks and burning for months – that I repeatedly asked about each time. Kevin and his team immediately caught it and fixed it. I brought my vehicle to a national discount tire chain for replacement tires 6 months ago. They were courteous but they then placed the 2 new tires on the rear of the vehicle. I didn’t know any better. The Foreign Car team not only rectified THAT, they also explained in plain speak why it’s better for the fresh tires to be in the front on my front wheel drive/4WD vehicle. Oh, and they alerted me that my sway bars were essentially gone. No one else had even mentioned it before. I brought my vehicle in to another well-known large shop for brake replacement by a gentleman with excellent repuatation in the area and fair prices. He replaced my rear brakes. Side note: also no mention of sway bars issue. The Foreign Car team caught the fact that the pads were essentially slapped-on, no preparation of the rotors was made, and as a result, I was driving with haphazard brakes that were working with debris stuck in them and not performing properly. Yes, that screeching was not supposed to happen, I just had no idea it was my brand new brakes. That other shop also did my inspection. Waving-off the check-engine light as no big deal for more than a year. Guess who identified it as a fairly necessary function (related to oxygen) in the efficiency and regulatory compliance of my vehicle? … so Kevin cared, and fixed it. Not only did I trust other locations and mechanics and service people because they seemed knowledgable, they were affordable and that is always critical for me. the problem: I had even more unmentioned issues with the vehicle that they didn’t care to take the time and identify. There is a huge difference between knowledge and truswortiness. The Foreign Car Specialists kept me informed of the progress of my service with options for text alerts and even calls when they were needed. This told me that they were being thorough. They established that trust. They have all of the skills and equipment of a large service center, so they will do excellent work on any vehicle. They provided me with a very nice loaner that I really enjoyed – just like the larger service centers have. However, something the large places CANNOT boast: they are a shop that is small enough to care and to be honest and personable. The team is held to a standard that clearly not all businesses subscribe to. I am so grateful for the work they did – I can’t even remember half of the dozen items they educated me about, so the most crucial result was that I had peace of mind when they finished the work. The car was sanitized, too, and it was ready for the road trip I had ahead with my 2 children. For the first time in years I wasn’t cringing when I turned the key. I didn’t break a sweat when I drove on the Thruway fearful that I’d break down. My children were safe, I was confident and that is really worth it all. I don’t know how to thank all of the team who worked on my vehicle, other than to make sure to pass along this heartfelt review. Highest recommendations ~ Bravo, Foreign Car Specialists!
